Restore

Hi,
I'm relatively new to SQL, but learning fast, and am having a problem
restoring a database on SQL 2000.
When I attempt to restore the database I get an error "Cannot find file ID 2
on device 'D:\name.bck" The company that created the database say that they
can restore it without problem.
I tried following the advice in
http://webservertalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=476716 - the database checks
out as a valid backup set when using the verifyonly command in QA, but when
I completed step 5 Enterprise manager showed the DB as "Loading" but did not
actually load - I left it for approx 10 mins in this state before cancelling
and restoring from an older backup, which worked without problem. The
database is only 50mb and normally restores in seconds.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Tim
Actually, I have managed to fix this by deleting the existing database and
restoring the new one.
